How to Get Started
Get Your Claim Approved
Work with your employer, insurer, or DVA to ensure your psychological injury claim is accepted and psychology treatment is approved.
Obtain a Referral
Get a referral from your GP or treating doctor specifying psychology treatment. This is usually required by the funding body.
Contact CYMP
Call us or email with your claim details. We'll verify your coverage and book your first appointment with Brett.
Attend Your Sessions
We handle invoicing directly with your funding body for approved claims, so there are no gap payments for you.
Important: Pre-Approval Required
Most third-party funders require pre-approval before you commence psychology treatment. Please confirm with your claims manager or agent that psychology sessions are approved before booking. We can provide treatment and progress reports on request.
Common Questions
Do I need a referral?
Yes. Third-party funded clients typically need a referral from their GP or treating doctor, along with approval from their funding body (WorkCover agent, DVA, TAC, or Comcare).
Are there any gap fees?
No. CYMP does not charge gap fees for third-party funded psychology sessions. We invoice the funding body directly at the approved rate.
How long can I access treatment?
Treatment duration depends on your claim and approval from your funding body. We provide regular progress reports to support ongoing treatment approval.
Can I choose which psychologist I see?
Yes, where possible. Brett Mackie is our primary psychologist for third-party funded clients, with expertise in trauma (EMDR) and work-related psychological injuries.
What if my claim is rejected?
If your claim is rejected or you're awaiting approval, you can still access our services as a private-paying client or using Medicare (with a Mental Health Treatment Plan).
