Registered Psychologist, or Provisional Psychologist close to registration
Change Your Mind Psychology is a small, trauma-focused private practice with a calm, well-fitted clinic and on-site parking at 399 Queen Street, Altona Meadows. We are looking for one more psychologist to join us from late November or December 2026.
What you get
- Paid for every booked session. If a client doesn't turn up or cancels late, you are still paid. We carry the no-show risk, not you. You keep 60% of the session fee to start, and we pay your super on top.
- Your own furnished consulting room, up to three days a week, on the days that suit you.
- A practice manager who handles intake, bookings, reminders, invoicing, claiming and chasing payments. You see clients and write your notes; we do the rest.
- Our clients are adolescents and adults, mostly GP-referred across Wyndham and Hobsons Bay, plus NDIS, TAC, DVA and WorkSafe. Referrals are matched to each clinician's skills and competence, and we will support you when a client needs skills you do not yet have.
- You won't be on your own. You join our principal psychologist, Brett Mackie, a Provisional Psychologist and our practice manager, Mark, in a small team that shares case discussion. Brett works in trauma and PTSD (EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, ACT, clinical hypnosis, VR-assisted exposure). Bring your own interests and we will make room for them.
- No room rent, software or admin fees. The practice's share of each fee covers them, and we will help you set up your Medicare provider number for 399 Queen Street.
PsychRooms gives you your time back
PsychRooms is the clinical and practice software we built for ourselves, and every clinician here works in it. It is designed to take the paperwork off your evenings.
- AI-drafted session notes. With the client's consent, PsychRooms transcribes the session and drafts your note. You review, edit, sign and lock it, so same-day notes become realistic and the note is still yours.
- Letters and plans drafted for you. GP letters, treatment plans, session plans and homework emails are drafted by AI for you to edit and send.
- Invoicing and claiming from the session. Generate the invoice from the appointment and follow funder claims in the same place, with nothing to type twice.
- Fewer no-shows. Automatic SMS reminders, and a waitlist that offers cancelled times to people already waiting.
- Outcome measures built in. Send questionnaires to clients before a session with Lens and see the results alongside your notes.
- Telehealth built in. Telehealth links are created from the appointment.
- Supervision and CPD tools. A 5+1 logbook and supervisor dashboard for Provisional Psychologists, and CPD logging for everyone.
- Records held safely. Client records are held on Australian servers, notes lock once signed, and every access is logged.
It is built in-house, so when something gets in your way, you can tell the person who builds it.
About you
- Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist (endorsement welcome), or you are a Provisional Psychologist in the final stage of registration (National Psychology Exam passed, internship finishing soon) with a Board-approved principal supervisor.
- Professional indemnity insurance and a current Victorian Working with Children Check.
- Experience with Medicare Better Access and at least one of NDIS, TAC or WorkSafe is helpful.
- You write and sign your notes and finalise the invoice on the day of the session. It is the one thing we are strict about, and it is what lets us pay you on time.
- If you speak Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin, Urdu, Telugu or another community language, please tell us. More than half of Wyndham households speak a language other than English at home.
- Trauma-focused training, such as EMDR, CPT, PE or TF-CBT, is welcome but not essential.
How it works
Independent contractor arrangement (ABN required). You keep 60% of the session fee for every booked session to start, and we pay the superannuation guarantee in addition. Paid fortnightly. You choose your own leave with notice; it is unpaid, as it is for any contractor. You manage your own insurance and CPD. We will go through the details with you.
If a client doesn't pay despite you following our billing and follow-up process, we cover the outstanding fee.
The engagement starts with an initial 3 months, reviewed at that point, then a further 3 months (6 months in total) if it's a good fit for both of us.
If you are a Provisional Psychologist, we will talk through the arrangement that suits you until your registration is granted.

Examples, not guarantees. Based on session fees of $215 to $245, before superannuation. Bulk-billed sessions pay less. What you earn depends on how many sessions are booked, and leave is unpaid, as it is for any contractor.
